Abstract:
Valleys of the small rivers at the urban areas play significant role as a part of the city
green infrastructure system and provide different ecosystem services. In spite of this, valley of the
Dubrovenka is not recognized as an important element of the city greenery. The valley is characterized
by intensive land use and high level of the pollution. In the paper we tried to systemize the types of
land use at the Dubrovenka valley, identify ecosystem services, factors of human impacts and level of
landscape transformation. Based on the field research, monitoring data, sociological survey, previous
research, statistic and cartographic data the next types of land use were divided: landscape recreational
zones, residential areas and mixed areas. the landscape recreational zone provide the most important
and diverse list of ecosystem services, at the same time some parts of these areas have poor conditions
180
and are needed in the support and special interventions for restoration and conservation landscape. The
“nature-based solutions” such as restoration of floodplain marches, natural communities at the forests,
control the spread of invasive species could be used for supporting actions. The quality and value of
residential and mixed area could be strengthen by use of green roofs, green parkings, vertical greenery
and etc.
