Abstract:
The relationships between the sulfur and carbon content in deposited metal, as well as the frequency of
short circuits of the arc gap, and the concentration of SF6 introduced into protective gas atmosphere at various
magnitudes of welding parameters were determined. Based on the chemical analysis of the deposited metal and
the results of performed oscillographic testing, assumptions were made concerning the key mechanisms of metallurgical
processes occurring under modification of the protective gas atmosphere with F-based halogen compounds,
and the areas, in which the arc welding technology with such modifications can be effectively applied.
