Рассматриваются возможные варианты соотнесения денотативного и сигнификативного аспектов в пословицах английского языка. Основным критерием выступает согласование лексической семантики слов, занимающих позиции предиката и аргументов пропозиции, и слов, выражающих соответствующих им участников ситуации. The article deals with the possible variants of correlation between the denotative and significative aspects in English proverbs. The main criterion for it is agreement of lexical semantics of words, taking the position of a predicate and arguments of the proposition, and words, expressing corresponding with them participants of the situation.
