Abstract:
The article evaluates theoretically and experimentally how geometric parameters of metal flows formed on the initially smooth surface of a steel (У8A) strip as a result of its electrical discharge machining affect the process of micro-cutting of materials. Results of the analysis of the shape and geometric parameters of metal flows are presented, and it is shown that, in the first approximation, they can be represented in the form of an
open torus cut along a plane coinciding with the initial surface of the strip. The cutting edge formed by the flows has a closed contour whose shape is close to the circumference and is characterized by a negative front angle.
