Abstract:
The article considers the effects of soil moisture on the traction and coupling properties of multi-purpose wheeled vehicles (MPWV) and their cross-country capability on weak soils. The dependencies between the bearing capacity of peatland soil of different origin and with different deformability indicators, and the relative humidity are given.
According to the calculated data, using the tactical and technical properties of a particular machine and the physicomechanical properties of the surface of peatland soil of three types with different humidity levels, the traction and coupling properties of MPWVs have been determined and the corresponding graphical dependencies have been obtained. The limiting values of soil moisture which determine the loss of MPWV cross-country capability have been found. The models proposed and results obtained will improve the design level of MPWV undercarriage systems.
